PowerFox is a Desktop web browser that runs on OS X. It's a brand new browser; it hasn't even been out for one year.
PowerFox is a modern web browser for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Firefox and other browser manufacturers have dropped support for older versions of Mac OS X, meaning that if you still run these older but still capable operating systems you won't be able to use a web browser that supports newer web technology.
So PowerFox has been developed to ensure that a legacy version of Firefox still runs and supports these newer technologies, as well as receiving security updates.
PowerFox is not a derivative of TenFourFox (which was another version of Firefox that supports older versions of Mac OS X). TenFourFox is now discontinued, so if you have an older PPC or Intel Mac, this is an option for still browsing the web.
The release date and the latest version number of PowerFox is displayed on the download page - this is very useful - it means you can easily tell how recently the latest version has been released. Using versions of software that were released a long time ago is bad security practice; the software may have old, unpatched bugs in it.
PowerFox is a secure, modern, and open-source web browser tailored specifically for your PowerPC or Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard.
